The 6.2 dBi 868 MHz Omni outdoor omni-directional antenna from EAD is centre-tuned and optimised at 868 MHz. Ideal for Helium applications, this antenna is terminated in a N-Female connector allowing it to be connected to a Helium hotspot via custom RP-SMA Plug (Male) cable. For other LoRA, SigFox and LP-WAN applications, the OMNI-868-62 offers consistent and durable mechanical and electrical performance.

Measuring 77cm in overall length (excluding the bracket), the OMNI-868-62-NF is a quality antenna manufactured for permanent outdoor installation. With a fibreglass tube and a robust mounting bracket (including U-bolts for 35-42mm mast diameter) allowing both pole and wall mounting, this antenna is designed for long-term outdoor deployment without degradation.

The CFO Compact Fibreglass Omni Outdoor antenna is a very compact solution providing 4G/5G access. Based around 145mm long Fibregalss sheath, the CFO offers robust performance in a small form-factor.

What is an omni-directional antenna?
- a omni-directional antenna is an antenna that radiates in every direction.
What characteristics does a good helium omni antenna need?
- A good outdoor helium omni antenna needs to combine effective RF performance with excellent build quality. Reliable gain figures are important for planning your deployment and the use of quality materials such as fibreglass tubes to ensure longevity when exposed long term to UV from sunlight and the weather.
What mounting options are possible?
- A good helium antenna will offer multiple mounting possibilities. Limiting the mounting to only pole mount or only wall-mount is restrictive therefore an antenna that offers both mounting options is preferred.
Is the choice of RF cable important for Helium deployments?
- The selection of quality RF cable is important for Helium antenna deployments especially for longer cable runs where it is critical to minimize signal losses (attenuation) over the length of the cable. For 10M or 20M cables, look towards 240 or 400 type cables respectively to mitigate signal losses.
Is a surge arrestor required for Helium installs?
- This is really a question for the installer. In the UK lightning strikes are very rare, so typically surge protectors are not used as the chance of a strike is so low. However, a “belt-and-braces” approach might be considered where a surge protector is used.
What the best advice for choosing a Helium outdoor antenna?
- Use a quality antenna from a reputable manufacturer where you can be sure that the specifications published match the performance of the antenna. Ensuring that the antenna is made of quality materials means that the antenna is unlikely to fail with a few weeks of installation. Select high quality low loss cables that mean you do not lose all the gain offered by the antenna over the cable run.

Helium outdoor antennas things to check before you buy

The Helium network offering low power coverage across the world is rapidly growing in popularity. Across the world, as Helium miners are being deployed, people are looking at outdoor omni-directional antennas to optimise coverage from each miner installed.

This brief comment is going to focus on build quality.

There are quite a few outdoor antennas on the market, but selecting one with build quality good enough to be permanently installed outdoors without falling apart is critical.

Many low (and very low) cost antennas are available from online market places. Ignoring poor RF performance for now, many of these low cost antennas suffer from poor build quality or inferior materials and are unlikely to survive one average winter outdoors.

Our suggestion is to look for European-manufactured Helium outdoor antennas that tend to focus on quality materials and not solely on price. One particular area to focus on is the sheath or tube as poor materials weather and crack very rapidly leading to unit failure. A proven, durable option is an antenna with a fibreglass tube which will withstand many winter’s deployment without suffering weather or UV-degradation.

Also check the brackets/clamps that come with antenna. Are they fit for purpose? Is the antenna secure enough when mounted?

There is nothing worse than having to replace the antenna you took the trouble to install three months ago due poor survivability of the materials.

GNS3602 GPS GLONASS passive internal antenna

The GNS3602 GPS GLONASS passive internal antenna is fed by a microcoax cable and IPEX-terminated (U.FL compatible) cable. The GNS3602 is designed to be integrated into GPS / GLONASS enabled devices and terminals where the GNSS module can only accommodate passive GPS/GLONASS antennas (GNSSS antennas without a LNA Low Noise Amplifier).

The GNS3602 is nicely compact measuring just 20 x 20 x 6mm and offers 1.5 dB gain at centre frequency. Ideal for portable and mobile devices, this antenna can be easily designed into tracking and location-based applications.

WCO 450 MHz Compact Outdoor Omni Antenna

The WCO 450 MHz compact waterproof omni-directional antenna is a robust solution for outdoor applications. Housed in a rigid, robust sheath, the WCO antenna is a durable solution for UHF and LTE 450 MHz deployments

The sheath length is 116mm long and the radiating element is groundplane dependent so the antenna should mount onto a metal surface, a metal wall bracket or have a proximity groundplane available. There are various connector options including N-Female Bulkhead mount, N-Male (as pictured) and TNC -Male.

LoRa Sigfox outdoor omnis from EAD are ideal for terminal and enclosure mounting. They are based on our WCO (Waterproof Compact Omni) antenna platform. Using either N-Female through-hole mount or N-Male connectors, they are robust and durable and offer consistent RF performance.

The antenna element is housed in a UV-resistant, black Luran Sheath. The sheath measures approximately 116mm in overall length and is screwed and bonded onto the barrel of the connector for durability.

LPO6160 Wideband MIMO LTE 4G 5G Wall Mount Antenna

The LPO6160 wideband MIMO 4G 5G wall-mount antena is an outdoor omni-directional antenna. Designed for wall-mounted applications, this antenna is compact whilst offering robust RF performance.

Complementing 4G and 5G routers and devices, this antenna operates across the sub-6 GHz bands from 617 MHz to 6.0 GHz including the Band 71 frequencies and the 3400-3800 MHz 5G frequencies.

Measuring just 80mm in height and 140mm in diameter, the LPO6160 can be surface-mounted onto a metal or non-metal surface, but more typically can be wall-mounted using a metal L-bracket. The LMO6138 MIMO Omni antenna is a dual polarised outdoor omni-directional antenna for 4G, LTE and 5G frequency bands. Operating from Band 71 from 617 MHz, the LMO6138 antenna works through the cellular bands including the 3400-3800 MHz band. Housed in a durable white ASA/PC radome, this antenna based on the very popular LMO platform and is usually supplied with a robust L-bracket for wall- or pole-mounting. Band 71 LTE antenna WTR6138 introduced by EAD

EAD has today introduced a Band 71 LTE antenna covering the 617 MHz to 3800 MHz frequencies. The WTR6138 is designed for mounting directly onto a router, modem or gateway.

As EAD’s first terminal antenna that covers Band 71 starting at 617 MHz, the WTR6138 is our widest bandwidth antenna covering the LTE frequencies across 700 to 2700 MHz. It also supports European 5G frequencies across the 3400-3800 MHz. With compact dimensions and a length of 171mm, this antenna offers consistent performance across the bands with a peak gain ranging from just under 1 dBi at the lowest band and 4 dBi in the higher bands.

The antenna is terminated in SMA-Male plug connector and is designed for direct mounting to a panel mounted SMA-Female connector.

The WTR6138 Wideband LTE 5G terminal omni antenna is a compact solution for routers, modems and gateways. With robust RF operation from 617 MHz to 3800 MHz, the WTR6138 is an effective antenna for 5G and LTE applications.

High Gain 915 MHz LoRa LPWAN antenna ideal for outdoor installs

A new High Gain 915 MHz outdoor wall-mount omni-directional ideal for LoRA and LPWAN applications has been released by EAD. Offering 5.8 dBi gain at 915 MHz, the WMO86916 is a compact and robust solution. It is supplied with an effective, reversible L-bracket allowing both wall-mount and pole mount capability.

The WMO86916 antenna is supplied with a white low loss 5M cable as standard terminated in a SMA-Male connector. Other connectors such as RP-SMA and RP-TNC are available. The cable length can also be customised from 0.5M to 5M in overall length.

Designed with fringe sites in mind, this high gain 915 MHz antenna is an excellent for ensuring signal continuity. The antenna tube is made out of fibreglass for longevity and with an overall length of just 840mm, the WMO86916 is compact enough to be discreet in many installations. Applications include remote monitoring applications, ultilities, RF mesh networks and unlicensed RF frequency band deployments.

SO169 SO437 Antennas VHF UHF Outdoor Omni

The SO169 SO437 antennas from Sirio are VHF and UHF outdoor omni-directional antennas respectively. Two new 868 915 MHz antennas from EAD offer more choices for connectivity in 868 MHz and 915 MHz applications. Addressing deployments such as LoRa, Sigfox and other unlicensed frequency band systems, the Button 868/915 and the Wall-Blade offer designers and installers more flexibility when rolling out wireless systems.

The Button 868/915 antenna is a compact low profile puck antenna designed to be mounted onto a groundplane (i.e. metal surface) such as a cabinet, enclosure, kiosk or roof. Permanently mounted via a threaded stud underneath, the antenna is fed by a single cable and supports both 868 MHz and 915 MHz frequencies. It measures just 62.7mm in diameter and 27.5mm in height and offers a robust, discreet solution for modems, gateways and access devices where an antenna needs to be mounted externally.

The Wall-Blade antenna is an effective wall-mounted blade antenna for 868 and 915 MHz with small dimensions to enable unobtrusive installation either indoors or outdoors as required. It is supplied with bracket and fixtures for mounting and is fed by a 3M cable and SMA-Male as standard. The Button 868 915 MHz compact low profile antenna is a discreet screw-mounted puck antenna. Supporting 868 MHz and 915 MHz frequencies, this robust antenna is mounted via a 14mm mounting hole for permanent mounting. The LTE-MIMO-Mag is a 4G LTE MIMO magnetic mount antenna. It is designed for fixed and mobile outdoor deployments where a 2-port 4G /LTE is required. Especially for applications, where drilling holes for permanent mount antennas is undesirable, the LTE-MIMO-Mag offers a compact and robust antenna solution.

With a gain of 3 dBi, the LTE-MIMO-Mag offers excellent RF performance and is fed by 2 x 3M cables as standard which are terminated in SMA-Male connectors. Other cable lengths and connectors are possible by request. The antenna base measures 70mm and the height is 100mm which is ideal in applications where long antennas are not practical, for example damage from low hanging branches onto vehicle roofs.

SO-4G-LTE outdoor omni LTE pole mount antenna

The SO-4G-LTE outdoor omni antenna from Sirio is a compact pole-mounted 4G and LTE antenna for permanent outdoor deployment.

Addressing the frequency band range from 790-2690 MHz, the SO-4G-LTE antenna is an effective solution for access applications where a robust, functional and discreet antenna is required. Offering gain in the lower band (790-960 MHz) of 2 dBi and 4 dBi in the upper bands, the SO-4G-LTE outdoor omni provides consistent performance. L1 L2 L5 Antennas from EAD offer enhanced precision

Two L1 L2 L5 antennas introduced recently by EAD enable enhanced precision and accuracy in global GNSS tracking and timing applications.

The MP-RTK is a global GNSS magnetic mount puck antenna which is robust and low profile with an active antenna element. Ideal for mobile non-permanent tracking and positioning installations where permanent mount antennas are undesirable, the MP-RTK antenna is compact, durable and waterproof. It is fed by a 3M cable as standard which exits from the side of the unit and whilst terminated with a SMA-Male connector as standard, other connector terminations are possible. The MP-RTK antenna has an integrated LNA with approximately 37 dB effective gain for GPS L1, 36 dB effective gain for GPS L2 and 32 dB effective gain for GPS L5 thereby offering high gain performance.

The HIGAIN-RTK antenna is a high gain multi-constellation antenna for outdoor pole-mount deployment. This antennas mounts to poles with a 1-14 UNF thread. With effective gain of 41 dBi for GPS L1, GLONASS G1, GALILEO E2-L1-E1 and BEIDOU B1 and an effective gain of 39 dB for GPS L2, L5, GLONASS G2, GALILEO E5A, E5B, E6 and BEIDUO B2 and B3, the HIGAIN-RTK offers flexibility allowing the antenna to be installed some distance from the receiver using low loss cables.

MIMO LTE antenna platforms are not one size fits all

In considering MIMO LTE antenna solutions for your application not all product offerings are equal. In addition, not all solutions will be suitable for your project.

A supplier with a range of many flavours of MIMO LTE antenna can greatly assist your quest for the best possible wireless deployment. This range should cover as a minimum blade antennas, low profile antennas, magnetic antennas and outdoor omni-directional and directional antennas.

A modular range of products allows the customer the choice to pick the correct product option. Take a low profile puck antenna for example, you may have the option of a MIMO LTE permanent mount puck antenna. This however might not quite meet your requirements, but the option of having such an antenna with an integrated WiFI element or an integrated GNSS element might be more suitable. Notwithstanding those options, it may be that you do not want to drill a hole in the skin of vehicle, cabinet or kiosk and a magnetic mount MIMO LTE antenna is preferable. In this case once again, the options of 2 x LTE, 2 x LTE + GNSS or 2 x LTE + WiFi are welcome to help you meet the requirements of your installation.

In terms outdoor MIMO antennas, a similar principle applies. Directional or omni-directional radiation patterns are important and how to mount the antenna, wall, pole or cabinet mount – a solution needs to be able to address these requirements. Also the possibility to marry these antennas with custom length low loss cables such as RF240 and RF400 rather that being offer a fixed length cable solution at 5M.

The SLP-4G-LTE Log Periodic LTE directional antenna from Sirio is an ideal high gain antenna for the fringes of 4G and LTE networks.

LPA420 UHF antenna low profile external mount

The LPA420 UHF antenna from Sirio Antenne is an outdoor-mounted, low profile solution for severely height-restricted applications where a compact antenna is not only desirable, but necessary. This solution is tuneable from 420 MHz to 470 MHz.The bandwidth of this antenna is approximately 2.5% of the centre frequency.

The radome of the LPA420 UHF antenna is weatherproof to ensure long life.The radiation pattern of this antenna is omnidirectional and the antenna is vertically polarized.

The optimum RF performance is achieved when the antenna is fitted to a metallic ground plane or roof l/2 a wavelength square. The antenna is fed by an cable exiting the underside of the unit via a rubber grommet. As standard, it is fed by a 1M cable and BNC-Male connector. Using RF195 and RF240 cable assemblies, you can extend the reach of the cable.

Button LTE Compact Low Profile Puck Antenna

The Button LTE compact low profile antenna is a discreet screw-mounted puck antenna. Supporting frequencies from 690-2690 MHz, this robust antenna is mounted via a 14mm mounting hole for permanent mounting. Measuring just 62.5mm in diameter and 27.5mm in height, the Button LTE compact antenna is one of the smallest low profile LTE antennas on the market. Peak gain ranges from 1.75 dBi in the low band to 4.31 dBi in the upper band. The Button LTE antenna when mounted securely onto a flat metal surface is waterproof rated to IP67.

This antenna is ideal for LTE and NB-IoT applications such as security, retail and access applications where a small permanently mounted antenna is required.

Various cable and connector options can be configured. Typical connectors include SMA, FME, CRC9, TS9, MCX and MMCX.
